The RAIA represents the profession on relevant professional organisations which make important contributions to public policy, including; the Australian Council of Building Design Professions; the Australian Council of Professions; Standards Association of Australia; and the Australian Copyright Council.
The Royal Australian Institute of Architects is a national organisation which has many members based overseas. The RAIA contributes globally through strategic formal representation on the International Union of Architects and informal contacts with equivalent bodies, particularly in Asia.
Through joint course accreditation arrangements with the Architects Registration Boards, the RAIA has a major influence on standards of architectural education.
